JO' BUDDY has a very individual & personal style! His laid back music spreads
joy of life, being simultaneously timeless, earthy & spiritual. It's a raw,
rootsy & wide open mixture of Ragtime, Down Home Blues, Old Spirituals,
Boogie Woogie, Early Jazz, Western Swing, Folk, Country, Zydeco, Swamp
Boogie, New Orleans Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Rock´n`Roll, Rockabilly, Garage
Rock, Heartfelt Ballads...and even echoes Rhythms of Western Africa or
Spanish Flamenco! |
And his versatile live repertoire consists only of his original world class songs! For those who believe in life before this one, he's assured that he led his previous
life in NEW ORLEANS. He has made numerous pilgrimages to this
CRESENT CITY, his guitar always as an companion. Why, he even got
married there once !! Jo'Buddy has made a fair pack of friends with his music in
different parts of EUROPE, USA & CANADA. Now he already has over 2.100 gigs behind him as a solo
artist & a great number with many, many line ups but since 2004 he's been working on the
road as a duo with the drummer wizard DOWN HOME KING III. Through the years he
has also become familiar as a frontman with such bands as ONE O'CLOCK HUMPH (1985-98),
GROOVY EYES (1993-) and HELGE TALLQVIST BAND (2004-), as a guitarist for TINY TONES (1997-),
DIZ WATSON & TONY UTER (2004-) and as a drummer & a bassist for TRAGIC SAM & THE LOWDOWN ROCKERS (2007-)

PRZEMEK DRAHEIM DJ of "The Voice of the Blues"-radio show, POLAND (February 28, 2008) "His blues is so raw, heartfelt and lowdown the effect is hypnotic,
he may be from Finland and sing in English, but Jo' Buddy's first language is
the Blues." |
DAN FORTE, Vintage Guitar Magazine, USA (July 2008 issue) "This is loud, raw and excating, with hollered vocals, grude guitar work and tub thumbing drumming." Norman Darwen, Blues & Rhythm Magazine, ENGLAND, UK (May 2008 issue)

"Jo' Buddy has paid his dues learning a variety of blues styles. Now his music is best described
as Jo' Buddy music. It's exciting, innovative and yet very definitely deep blues. A great album."
|
MIKE GARNER, Blues News, NEW ZEALAND (April 2008) "His radio-driven guitar and soulful vocals backed by the driving rhythms of Down Home King III makes for a unique and eclectic experience." JERRY HALL, Pacific Blues, USA (March 2008) "Another wonderful collection of Jo´ Buddy & Down Home King III. If you have never heard his playing, think of what an elecric guitar would sound like if it were hooked up to a cement mixer. That goes close to the raw plank plunking on this cd." CHARLIE LANGE, Bluebeat Music, USA (March 2008)

"Two musicians with a genuine honest musical language that only artists who have really captured the real down home blues spirit can express. Congratulations! GREAT." VICENTE ZUMEL, "La Hora del Blues", SPAIN, (November 2008) "Powerful voice, growlin' guitar and punchin' beat. Just fantastic raw music, one step beyond the blues." "This music is raw and hypnotic and probably different from most blues you’ve heard before.
Combining all of this into one cohesive unit could have been a disaster in the wrong hands,
but fortunately, the duo is able to pull it off effectively, making Whole Lotta Things To Do
a successful endeavor."

GRAHAM CLARKE, Blues Bytes, USA, (September 2008)
"Very ballsy…primitive and yet with a pocket all his own. Sometimes out of tune, but never out of groove.
This guy is definitely an original who can definitely show us a little bit about feel."
