the attention of the audience while on stage - though not with unnecessary
flash & glitter - but with simply singing in his personal style and
playing good!" SCOTT BARETTA - Jefferson Magazine, SWEDEN (1997) |
|
| "He
isn´t only internationally a first-class guitarist but also an exceptionally
soulful singer, who´s deep but easy downhome approach is in these
northern latitudes strictly in it's own class as well as his sense of style
and tone quality." JUSSI NIEMI - Soundi Magazine, FINLAND (1996) "One of the World´s most talented roots music distillers!" MIKKO AALTONEN, (The Editor of) Rumba Magazine, FINLAND (2006) |

"Well, Finnish blues people must be like London buses: You wait forever for one to turn up and then two arrive at once!
First there was Erja Lyytinen with Blues Caravan, now here comes Jo’ Buddy. This an adventure in blues sounds and grows and grows on you!
The singing is excellent and the guitar parts are adventurous. Get Jo’ Buddy to the UK someone. Let’s see him live."
IAN MCKENZIE, (The Editor of) Blues in the South Magazine, ENGLAND (2006) |

"With his straning voice, raw (I mean "raw"!) electric guitar and sidekick drummer evokes all of those aforementioned on this
energetic and very entertaining set." NORMAN DARWEN, Blues & Rhythm Magazine, ENGLAND (2006) "I saw this Finnish duo and was really impressed. Singer/guitarist Jo' Buddy has a great feel and knowledge of the music. He also has the most unusual guitar amplification set-up I've ever seen. With Down Home King III on drums it was a great combination." BIG JOE LOUIS, Blues Matters Magazine, London, ENGLAND (2006) |

"This is a helluva CD - World class by anyone's standards." |
"Yes it's certainly raw & rootsy and to add to the description, it's in ya face with no pretence of cutesy reverence and at times it's ugly
bare bones Americana in all it's glory…go the Finns! If you get past the initial shock of the raw then there are goodies to be found…like the man said
'Grits & Rattles'." MIKE BUTLER, Blues News, NEW ZEALAND (2006) "Jo´Buddy on guitar and vocals and Down Home King III on drums have conceived a rich original musical speech with cool ‘garage rock blues’ built over different basis, from ‘swamp blues’ to ‘ska’, ‘neo-rockabilly and even ‘down-home-blues’. A very interesting album from a gifted musician who deserves recognition for those of you who are not familiar with his career. VERY GOOD."
